The Usual Suspects were honoured to play during the Hearts on the Harbour Gala Dinner, a fundraiser organised for Hearts for Kid’s Cancer Research and The Kid’s Cancer Project. It was such a special night, and so wonderful to see so many people get behind these phenomenal organisations. We were later informed that the final amount raised was around $75K, which is fantastic news!
A highlight of the night was watching Ruby King, a 12 year old cancer survivor, sing What A Wonderful World with The Usual Suspects, resulting in a well deserved standing ovation. Ruby has an astoundingly beautiful and sophisticated voice, and it was so moving and so inspirational to see her perform with a confidence and poise well beyond her years. I don’t think anyone could quite believe that such a big voice was coming from such a little girl! This one is definitely going places.
Again, it was such a special night, and truly humbling to play a role in it. Particular thanks from us at Funkified Entertainment to Lynette from LCB Productions, Kim from The White Idea and the team from Opera Point Marquee, for all your wonderful direction and assistance. And Congratulations! What an outstanding outcome. Truly amazing to see all those hours of work come together in such a beautiful event 🙂

So after nearly a full week of rain, skies were finally clear (well.Clear- ish); just in time for all the cool kids in Sydney to flock to The Argyle. Here they were treated to an afternoon of beer, BBQ, and other Australia Day related shenanigans- If you weren’t lucky enough to make it on the day (or alternately if you WERE there, but forgot your camera), you can check out pics HERE.
We’re pretty proud to say that the Machine guys absolutely nailed this one. They were a total standout of the afternoon; as they smashed out a set of Aussie classics- ‘You’re the Voice’ in particular was met with much excitement. Great job guys. Check out these pictures, and get all excited thinking about parties and music.
Funkified Entertainment and Kudu Lounge are proud to present incredible Sydney jazz vocalist, Briana Cowlishaw, this Thursday from 8pm!
Possesing an enrapturing, ‘lighter-than-air’ voice, Sydny jazz vocalist Briana Cowlishaw is taking the international jazz scene by storm. Armed with a gift for composition, that has seen her produce impressive and deceptively-complex works, Briana will be performing songs from her highly acclaimed debut album, ‘When Fiction Comes To Life’ (recorded with such jazz heavyweights as Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers and Greg Hutchinson) as well as exciting new compositions.
Don’t miss Bri performing with Matt McMahon (Keys), Brett Hirst (Bass) and Nic Cecire (Drums) THIS THURSDAY (6th October) from 7:30pm at KUDU LOUNGE (225 Victoria Road, Darlinghurst).
Oh, and it’s Free Entry!
“Her compositions already reflect a distinctive style, that promises to be unmistakable; her structures and arrangements are always interesting, her melodies transportable.” – Lloyd Bradford Syke (The Australian Stage)

Halloween celebrations are going absolutely ballistic this year! Whether it’s the result of the influence of various Twilight sagas, the recent release of the absolutely terrifying ‘Paranormal Activity 2’, or just a desire to go all out and party for the sake of it, we’re just happy for the excuse to dress up.
One Halloween party that promises to get it’s spook on like no other, is the Magique Halloween Circus at Luna Park’s Big Top. Featuring circus performers, magicians, live bands, DJ’s, burlesque shows, dancer crews (not to mention the rides, which are open till late AND discounted), this party is going to be absolutely insane. And of course, dressing up is compulsory. Seriously – no costume, no entry.
