Entertaining A Musician

A somewhat challenging highlight for The Usual Suspects this March would have to be playing at the wedding of Alison and Chris – the front man of our very own Let’s Groove Tonight! As I’m sure you’d imagine, it’s no mean feat to provide, in Chris’ own words,

‘entertainment for a room full of musicians… but as usual The Usual Suspects smashed it up’.

Amazing job guys. And huge (albeit slightly belated!) Congratulations to Chris and Alison! We’re so thrilled for you both, and feel completely honored to have been a part of your celebrations!

Many thanks guys,

Congratulations to Lyndal and David!

Saturday night saw Sydney’s most in- demand party band The Usual Suspects at Watson Bay’s Dunbar House, for the wedding reception of Lyndal and David. This was a fantastic night with a great crowd – the highlight of the night would have to be the Bride and Groom joining the band for a rendition of ‘Mustang Sally’ later in the night. Also the bridal party’s choreographed  dance routine to an array of songs – from LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I know It’ to Bachman Turner Overdrive’s ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet’ – amazing form, and a great way to personalise your wedding. Here’s a couple of shots we managed to grab from the night:

Salt String Quartet

As we find ourselves deep in the midst of wedding season, we’re happy to report that the Salt String Quartet girls have been particularly in demand this year. Last Sunday saw them sent off to Bennelong, the picturesque spot at the front of Sydney Opera House, to play at the wedding ceremony and reception (hosted in Guillaume, the restaurant located in the southern sail of the Opera House) of Elizabeth and Frank.

The amazing harbour views and gorgeous weather alone guaranteed that this would be a great day. The Salt girls did a spectacular job enhancing the idyllic atmosphere of the scene with a whimsical delivery of ‘Canon’ by Pachelbel during the processional. Salt String Quartet are renowned for their versatile repertoire of Classic, Contemporary, Pop and Jazz pieces, and enjoy tailoring every performance to suit the individual personality of each client. Sunday was no exception, and their rendition of Seal’s ‘Kiss From A Rose’ was a big hit during the reception, as was Elton John’s iconic ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’- favorites of the bride and groom.

Congratulations Elizabeth and Frank. It was a huge pleasure to be involved in your beautiful wedding! And a big thanks to Fi Deans- Dundas of Couture Wedding Planning. It was great to work with you again, and as always you did an incredible job!

Photo Shoot Day!

Last Monday we gathered a handful of Funkified acts, booked out Chippendale’s Queen Street Studios and enlisted the photography skills of the wonderful Maja Baska for a hectic day of photo shoots! Each act on our books has been carefully selected for their professionalism, talent and commitment to music and entertainment; so we were keen to bring out some new looks for the website, which represent each bands unique personality and passion! We’re so excited about the finished results that we couldn’t resist putting up a sneak peek with a couple of our favourites:

The Usual Suspects, one of Sydney’s most in- demand party bands. Boasting an extensive repertoire, which draws from Funk, Jazz, Pop, Soul and R’n’B, these guys are a hit at weddings, corporate events and public gigs-  as one extremely happy client remarked last year

“There were even shouts of ‘encore, encore’ when the last song was played and I have never seen a wedding where the dance floor was so full all evening!!!”.

Visit HERE to learn more…  HERE too.

Dynamic, sexy and widely regarded for their energetic  delivery of both current hits and retro disco faves, Let’s Groove Tonight guarantees something to please everyone. Featuring an elite lineup of two of Sydney’s most electric young vocalists, and some of the best musicians the local r’n’b scene has to offer, Let’s Groove Tonight have been described as

“an outstanding band… everyone enjoyed the music immensely, it all was over too quickly! They were brilliant!”

Listing such iconic figures as Jamie Cullum, Frank Sinatra, and Stevie Wonder as their chief influences; Ellipsis’s reputation as Sydney’s premier Jazz band is backed by their polished delivery of jazz-infused arrangements of pop, lounge and soul favourites, as well as jazz standards. The ultimate in sophisticated event entertainment, Ellipsis combine their years of professional experience with their devotion to jazz to create a captivating and unique onstage presence.

Stay tuned for more news and photos! And let us know what you think of everyone’s new look :).

Take care!
