Carol and Johnno’s wedding

Last Saturday we were extremely privileged to be involved in an amazing wedding at Sydney’s fabulous Four Seasons, for the delightful Carol and Johnno. The Usual Suspects guys did us extremely proud, with the usual awesome party tunes (Moves Like Jagger, Superstitious, Crazy in Love to name a few); however the highlight of the night would have to have been Johnno jumping onstage to join the band for a rendition of Bruno Mars’s ‘Just The Way You Are’- nice work, man! We were overwhelmed away by your efforts, and Carol was absolutely delighted- as were your guests, which you can see here in these shots we managed to grab:

The Suspects guys were so blown away by you all -and the night as a whole- that they were perfectly happy to be persuaded to stay and play a little longer. Congratulations guys, and all the best!!

Australia Day!

So Australia Day is coming up, which is cool, because it means we all get a Thursday off work. And if you’re in Sydney, The Argyle is shaping up to be the place to celebrate this year. They’ll be kicking off the party with a traditional BBQ in the courtyard from 12pm; followed at 2 with a live session of classic Aussie hits, brought to you by rock powerhouse Machine- think everything from Acca Dacca to the Minogues!! Exciting right??

For those of you who aren’t yet lucky enough to have experienced Sydney favorites Machine, you’re in for something epic. One of the few professionally- trained rock bands in the country, and consisting of former and current members of Sydney band The Enormous Horns, the Machine guys have participated in sell- out shows around the world to rave reviews. Having been described as ‘animated and dynamic’, and renowned for their ability to engage and energize any crowd, these guys are sure to have you on your feet this Australia Day. What better way to spend your mid- week holiday? And in the ultra- hip and lavish harbor- side surroundings of The Argyle, no less? I can’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate Australia.

Love Jazz?

Funkified Entertainment and Kudu Lounge are proud to present incredible Sydney jazz vocalist, Briana Cowlishaw, this Thursday from 8pm!

Possesing an enrapturing, ‘lighter-than-air’ voice, Sydny jazz vocalist Briana Cowlishaw (female vocalist of The Usual Suspects) is taking the international jazz scene by storm. Armed with a gift for composition, that has seen her produce impressive and deceptively-complex works, Briana will be performing songs from her highly acclaimed debut album, ‘When Fiction Comes To Life’ (recorded with such jazz heavyweights as Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers and Greg Hutchinson) as well as exciting new compositions.

Don’t miss Bri performing with Matt McMahon (Keys), Brett Hirst (Bass) and Nic Cecire (Drums) THIS THURSDAY (6th October) from 7:30pm at KUDU LOUNGE (225 Victoria Road, Darlinghurst).

Oh, and it’s Free Entry!

“Her compositions already reflect a distinctive style, that promises to be unmistakable; her structures and arrangements are always interesting, her melodies transportable.”

- Lloyd Bradford Syke (The Australian Stage)

Top Tips In Organising Your Wedding Music

Planning the music for your wedding doesn’t have to be a stressful – in fact, it can be one of the most enjoyable aspects of your wedding preparation! To help you out, the following are our Top Tips to help you get the perfect soundtrack for your wedding day:

1)   Show your personality! Your music selections can be a great way to personalise your wedding. For important moments like your processional, reception entrance, and cake cutting, select songs that hold special meaning to you and your partner.

2)   Get it in writing. To avoid any confusion or misunderstandings, make sure your band or DJ provides a contract for you that clearly states the performers start and finish times, the number of performers booked and the number of sets they are doing.

3)   What DON’T you want to hear? Informing your band or DJ of the songs you definitely don’t want played on the night can be just as important as letting them know the ones you do.

4)   Keep them in the loop. If you have a certain theme for your wedding that you want reflected in the entertainers outfits, or a particular song you really want performed, make sure to give the band/DJ plenty of notice so that they have time to prepare.

5)   Trust the professionals. While you should definitely let the band/DJ know what songs and artists you would like to hear on the night, don’t get too caught up in structuring the songs lists to a tee. If you’ve booked a professional group, they’ll have extensive experience at reading the crowd, and knowing what they want to hear, leaving you to just relax and enjoy the music!
